Pastoral Visit: Ixcán, Alta Verapaz and Petén
From May 13 to May 20, we conducted a pastoral visit to the regions of Ixcán, Alta Verapaz, and Petén, where we visited the communities of Aurora, Santa Elena, Cimiento, San Antonio, Nueva Guatemala, La Esmeralda, and Centro Dolores.
Visiting six communities and Centro Dolores in seven days was definitely a challenge, but it couldn’t have been more rewarding, creating spaces for faith, service, and many conversations with the community—moments that were both concerning and emotional, yet definitely filled with celebration and joy.
Thank God for the opportunity to celebrate Nueva Guatemala’s 24th anniversary with them, to witness for so many years the community’s work of faith and perseverance, and what God has built in the heart of each person.
Similarly, in La Esmeralda, we had the opportunity to celebrate a young woman’s 15th birthday; her family held a small celebration and, with great generosity, wanted us to attend and share with them this very special and emotional moment in her life
In Cimiento, we witnessed the love between Don Pedro and Doña Victoria—a love that has endured for 50 years—and they asked us to accompany them and witness their renewed commitment and happiness before God. Pastor Karen led the service for this spiritual renewal, making it a beautiful and joyful moment.
We returned with our hearts full, eternally grateful for the opportunity to offer spiritual companionship as churches and as children of God. We hold on to all these experiences and continue to pray for the lives of everyone who is part of this great community of faith around the world.
Desde el 13 de mayo hasta el 20 de mayo dimos lugar a una visita pastoral en las regiones de Ixcán, Alta Verapaz y Peten, en las cuales visitamos las comunidades: Aurora, Santa Elena, Cimiento, San Antonio, Nueva Guatemala, La Esmeralda y el Centro Dolores.
Definitivamente visitar 6 comunidades y el centro dolores en 7 días fue un reto pero no pudo haber sido más gratificante, creando espacios de fe, de servicio y de muchas conversaciones con la comunidad, momentos preocupantes, emotivos y definitivamente llenos de celebración y gozo.
Gracias a Dios por la oportunidad de poder celebrar junto con Nueva Guatemala su 24 aniversario, ser testigos por tantos años del trabajo de fe y perseverancia de la comunidad y lo que Dios ha construido en el corazón de cada una de las personas.
De la misma manera en La Esmeralda tuvimos la oportunidad de celebrar los 15 años de una mujer joven, su familia hizo una pequeña celebración y con gran corazón quisieron que asistiéramos y compartiéramos con ellos en este momento tan especial y emocional en la vida.
En Cimiento fuimos testigos del amor entre Don Pedro y Doña Victoria, amor que ha perdurado por 50 años por lo cual nos pidieron acompañarlos y presenciar su declaración de compromiso y felicidad ante Dios nuevamente. La Pastora Karen oficio el servicio de esta renovación espiritual, siendo un momento hermoso y lleno de felicidad.
Regresamos con el corazón lleno, eternamente agradecido por permitirnos brindarnos un acompañamiento espiritual como iglesias y como hijos de Dios. Nos mantenemos con todas estas experiencias y orando siempre por las vidas de todas las personas que forman parte de esta gran comunidad de fe en todo el mundo.
